Brown Davis Interiors, Inc. traditional family roomIn an ideabook that I wrote for Houzz, I explored different ideas for composing a beautiful music room.  You can certainly go bolder in these rooms whether it is with color or pattern on the walls or with an interesting piece of furniture.  Go ahead, go BOLD! Click on ideabook for more photos and full article.

  6. I believe that our environments can be a direct reflection of the radiance our souls. When I look at this room with bold panels of color and neutral textures... I have a sense of the people who live there. It takes a clear vision of the space, use and people who live there to create a room that both rests and stands on its own. I too would love to hear what led you to the choices you made...

(on a biz note, can I suggest that you add your city/state on your blog... great change to attract new clients and referral sources if we know where you are.)

    Blessings~

  7. Though I'm not a yellow fan, I love the simplicity of this room with the touch of bold color (I'd use a different color, but that's just my unnatural aversion to yellow). I can totally imagine getting lost in the music w/o distraction.

  9. Hi Carrie,
Thanks for this STRIKING photo. I'm eager to see more! For me, bold sometimes adds exactly the right dynamic touch, but not always. It's useful for establishing a pleasing balance with everything nearby and avoiding the boring "ho-hum's". It's like people saying God created TIME to prevent everything from happening all at once.

  10. Welcome to Blogger Monday, Carrie! I love the photo you shared in this post, and look forward to seeing more from you -- would enjoy learning more about how you chose the colors and textures, etc. that you chose. I am in awe of people like you that can take a room and transform it into something of beauty and that brings joy to the people that live in that space!

  11. Okay! I love bold but would have welcomed a few more bold suggestions. I kind of thought - is that it? A few more words needed I think.

  12. Thank you all for your comments and critique. I apologize for not making the link to the rest of my post more visible. Huge mistake! The post was meant as more of a short commentary on the different photographs/room designs in order to spark interest. I guess things are a bit different in design blogs. However, I will definitely step it up in my future posts. Thank you all for your honesty.

  13. Carrie, to me this room is simple yet sophisticated. I love the drapes that go all the way to the ceiling for height and although I would never picked that orange color but it is striking and matches the flooring so beautifully. And the painting taking over the entire wall against the black piano is striking. Love it.
